| Terrazzo is a granite marble chips floor with coloured cement. Once it hardens, the terrazzo is polished down a few millimetres to bring up the beauty of the marble chips mixed in colored cement. Terrazzo is produced in plain colour, or creates a pattern separating the different coloured cement & marble chip mix. Terrazzo flooring has been embellishing emblematic buildings for more than a century, across the 5 continents. Terrazzo floors has traditionally been produced on site, but this is a complex and expensive process that requires a high level of expertise. This on site method is only used for very large areas and simple patterns. Mosaic del Sur manufactures individual Terrazzo tiles which will produce the desired pattern effect once they have been placed one by one. |
Terrazzo tiles manufactured and controlled in the factory are easy to place and don’t need specific ability from the tillers. Terrazzo tiles (33,3x33,3 cm – 13’’x13’’) are equally valuable for large or small areas. Terrazzo floors should be polished with sanding machines in the same process you would do with marble to level of and achieve a perfectly smooth surface. Finally it will be crystallized and sealed as with the cement tiles. There is an immense array of Terrazzo patterns which can be achieved with the different combinations of patterns, colored cement and marble chips, ideal to show off the designer’s creativity. Terrazzo tiles manufactured by Mosaic del Sur are resistant to abrasion and stains. Terrazzo floors are durable, giving you the option of re-polishing them after a period of time, and regaining its original beauty. |
